What the theme and Studio do
Both are free, GPL licensed and built on WordPress core features. Version 0.1.0 needs WordPress 7.1 and PHP 8.2 or later.
Theme
Leitvia, the block theme
A pure block theme without a build step. It loads no JavaScript on the front end, keeps its CSS under 30 KB and runs fully without Studio.
Token contract
Fixed slugs for colors, font sizes, font families and spacing. Patterns contain no hex values, no pixel values and no custom CSS.
Templates
Ten templates: index, blog, single, page, landing page without title, documentation with page tree, archive, author, search and 404.
Patterns
39 patterns for heroes, content, teasers, social proof, calls to action, offers, headers and footers, each with a note on when to use it.
Style variations
Warm Editorial, Swiss Editorial and Corporate in light and dark, three color presets and two typography presets. Fonts are bundled locally.
Navigation
Submenus and a mega panel built on the core navigation block. They open on click, Enter or Space and close with Escape.
News-ready articles
One h1, a byline linked to the author page, labelled publish and update dates and a reading width of 60 to 80 characters.
The theme ships a machine-readable contract: design.md describes roles, rules and tone, leitvia-contract.json lists roles, patterns and template areas with layout metadata for each pattern. Read how the theme is tested on the accessibility page.
Plugin
Leitvia Studio
Studio stores everything in WordPress core structures: patterns are core patterns, tokens end up in global styles, content types are registered with core APIs. Deactivate it and your content and styles stay.
Pattern Lab
A gallery of all theme and own patterns under Leitvia Studio in the admin menu.
- Live previews in every style variation at 390, 782 and 1440 px
- Status (draft, in review, approved, deprecated with replacement), version and changelog per pattern; pages inherit the status of the patterns they use
- State variants for long text, empty, error and disabled
- An accessibility check that runs axe in every preview and stores the result with the pattern
- Usage index, dependency graph, pattern export and import as JSON
Tokens
Token sets in the W3C Design Tokens format (DTCG), stored with revisions and compiled into the global styles of your site.
- A contrast lock: a set whose text or control colors miss WCAG 2.2 AA cannot be saved
- The same lock guards color changes in the site editor
- Import and export as DTCG JSON, or start a set from the theme or one of its variations
- Overlays that change tokens for a scheduled period, for example a campaign
Content model
Declare post types, taxonomies, fields with a schema, relations and site settings as JSON. Studio registers them through core APIs and makes them available in the REST API.
- Editor panels generated from the schema
- Repeaters stored as child entries and edited inline in the parent
- Block bindings sources
leitvia/meta,leitvia/settingandleitvia/relationfor paragraphs, headings, buttons and images - Without Studio, bound blocks show the content saved in the block
Profile pictures
Users pick their profile picture from the media library on their profile screen. Everyone else, including people who comment, gets a neutral placeholder that ships with the plugin.
- Gravatar stays off unless an administrator switches it on
- Privacy exporter and eraser for the picture assignment
- Pattern “Author card with profile picture”
Extension API
Six registries for abilities, blocks, lab panels, token sources, sync targets and checks. Studio uses them itself, and add-ons register with a slug, a version and the Studio version range they need.
- Abilities only with annotations, shared with AI tools only when you allow it
- A JavaScript handle for add-on screens
- Documentation with an example add-on
